About Us

MomSquawk is dedicated to providing information and community to new and expecting mothers.

In 2004, we found ourselves among a small group of soon-to-be mothers who were gathering on the internet to discuss our new-found adventures in motherhood. We quickly realized that we were having trouble finding good information, despite the staggering amount of parenting content on the web. Sadly, we identified that many sites on motherhood fall into two categories:

Some are so diluted and mainstream that they could've been (and probably were) written by interns whose closest experience to pregnancy was a broken condom scare after a sorority formal.

Others are so zealous in their approach that one would feel guilty for admitting to considering weaning a child from the breast before the age of 15.

We founded MomSquawk to fill that void.

Why us?

We are mothers first. For real. Not twenty-somethings who have a pregnant friend, or seasoned grandmothers who did this when formula feeding was in vogue. We are there, now, in the trenches with you. Your concerns are our concerns. We're not experts, although with all of the people calling themselves experts these days, we probably could be. We're smart, we're sane, and we are committed to doing the best for our children, our families, and ourselves.

Things you can count on from MomSquawk:

Straight, smart talk.

A community of like-minded, but not homogenous, women. Respectful debate is not only tolerated, but encouraged. We believe there is more than one way to raise a child, so speak up. We believe that we can learn from mothers with whom we agree or disagree. Have a point of view? Post it - even if you feel like you're the only one who feels that way. We guarantee you're not.

Respect for our membership. We believe our members should be listened to and treated like intelligent adults.

Access to great information all around the web. MomSquawk staff is constanly searching for good information on motherhood. Sometimes we write it, sometimes someone else does. Either way, we'll be sure to let you know about it.

We are committed to continually improving how we serve our members. If there's something you'd love to see on MomSquawk, let us know - we'd love to hear from you!
